Hangman album launch

We’re playing this Saturday (24th July) at the Kings Arms as part of the lineup for Hangman’s album launch party. Check out the details here, and come down to hang out and have a beer with the band!

It’s that time again, where I tell you that we have a couple of gigs coming up; on the 1st May at Shadows (with Stephen James & Junipah) and on May 7th at Juice Bar (with The Benday Dots and Freaky Meats).

The gig on the 1st is momentous in that it will be our first with Chris, who has joined us on bass. Paul has decided to head across the ditch to live in Melbourne, and while it’s a shame for us to no longer be graced by his suave presence, we wish him all the best in his new ventures and look forward to visiting (gig in Melbourne, anyone?)

The picture above is from the set of photos shot for us by Mike Rooke, at the top of a hill out in Riverhead. All the gear had to be carried up, and while it doesn’t look high in the picture I can assure you it was a mission! The photos came out great though — no pain, no gain etc. — and we’ll be posting the results on Flickr shortly.

We had the good fortune of spending some time recently in the studio of the generous and talented Mike Vitali. The result is a new demo for one of our newer songs, ‘OK’, which you can take a listen to on our site. It’s one of a few songs we’ve been wanting to get recorded for a while, and hopefully we can follow this up with some of the others.

Speaking of demos, our first EP ‘Ever Change’ is now available for sale! It’s a collection of 6 demos we recorded ourselves in the practise room and at home, and in the end they turned out well enough that it no longer seems fit to refer to them as demos. You can order copies from the website, but be in quick because there aren’t many left!

EP, photoshoots, and gigs

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the band, in which we finally sent our EP of demos to the printing press (look out for them soon), headed out into the wilderness to do a photoshoot with the talented Michael Rooke, and lined up a gig for this Friday (6th Nov) at Live Bar with local boys The Frisk. Bands start at 9, so come along and have a beer with us!
